Tree Removal Methods

Felling: This approach to tree removal is when you cut the tree down at its base close to the ground and fell the entire tree. This should only be done if there is no other objects in the felling path of the tree and by a professional who can cut the tree’s base using specific methods to control how the tree falls. There are several hazards to keep in mind when felling a tree in this manner. This is the least common tree removal method Aloft Tree uses.

Climbing: This method uses climbing lines and rigging lines to remove the tree. The arborist sets a climb line in the tree and uses the climb line to maneuver around in the tree and anchor him/her self safely using several techniques. The rigging line is used to lower sections of the tree down to the ground in a controlled and safe manner after each cut. Proper rigging techniques ensures safety and efficiency during the removal process. Although more time-consuming than felling, climbing and rigging is a safe way to remove trees that are close to houses, power lines, other trees and many other objects close to the tree. This methos in the most commonly used method at Aloft Tree.

Lift Removal: This method uses a lift or bucket truck to remove the tree. Some trees are not safe to climb or close to other hazards and using a lift is the safest approach to removing the tree. Like climbing the tree comes down is small sections at a time and safely dropped to lowered to the ground in sections.

Crane Removal: This approach uses a crane to lift large sections of a tree at a time and lowers them safely to the ground in a designated work area. Crane removals are used when removing large trees, hazardous trees or trees that are to close to other objects to safely drop or lower sections to the ground.
